Lindbergh High School Seniors Collect Honors

$200,000 in scholarships were presented as academic achievement at Lindbergh High School is recognized.

Lindbergh High School seniors gathered together last week to receive well over $200,000 in scholarship awards and to be recognized for a number of academic achievements.

More than 40 scholarships were awarded in all, including 22 from the Lindbergh Schools Foundation that totaled $31,500. Foundation scholarships are given in honor or in memory of former teachers, alumni, coaches, students and administrators, according to a news release from the Lindbergh School District.

Senior Emma Diestelkamp received a $180,000 scholarship from the U.S. Marine Corps’ Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps, and 18 International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma candidates received their gold stoles, which they will wear at graduation May 29.

Each year, Lindbergh High School presents the Renaissance Man and Woman of the Year awards to the top two seniors who best exemplify scholarship, leadership, character, citizenship and community service. This year’s recipients are Mackenzie Hempe and Kendall Helbert.

Both recipients are seven semester Platinum Renaissance recipients. Hempe is an IB Diploma Candidate, a National Merit Commended Scholar and a Harvard Book Award winner. She has been a member of RAD, Venture Crew, LHS Interact, National Honor Society, Character Council, DECA, and Principal’s Council. Helbert is a National AP Scholar, a National Merit Finalist, and a RPI Medal Award recipient for excellence in math and science. He has been a member of DECA, All-Suburban Honors Band, varsity Football, and varsity baseball.
