Lindbergh Recognized as Athletic Leadership School for 12th Year in a Row

The only high school in the St. Louis area to be honored for 12 consecutive years, MSHSAA gave Lindbergh athletics the credit again.

's athletic program earned a 2012 title as a Leadership School by the Missouri State High School Athletics Association (MSHSAA) for the 12th consecutive year.

The recognition comes from Lindbergh's programming to promote character development, involvement in activities and sportsmanship. MSHSAA suggests to high schools to incorporate faculty, administrators, coaches and students into leadership teams to best represent and improve athletic activities.

At Lindbergh, the L Club is the embodiment of this initiative. Open to any varsity lettermen, the L Club meets once a month with Athletic Director Mike Slyman and six student athletes, discussing program maintainence and enhancement.

“We participate in various programs that MSHSAA offers to promote leadership among our kids,” Slyman said. “I am proud of all of our athletes for taking good sportsmanship seriously and earning this recognition year after year.”

This year's title qualifies Lindbergh to vie for a 5-Star Leadership School honor. In 2012, Lindbergh has also been recognized as a National School of Character, a Missouri Gold Star School, a U.S. News Silver Medal School and among Newsweek's Best High Schools list.
