Lindbergh School District Students, Staff Give Back on Thanksgiving

As seen on the LSD website, a bevy of Thanksgiving activities gave the district many reasons to give thanks.

Concord Kindergarteners Feast Together

Concord Elementary School hosted a Thanksgiving feast for kindergarten students, including cheese popcorn, juice boxes, carrots, pretzels, cornbread and fresh fruit. Students came dressed as pilgrims and Native Americans, and during the feast they learned about the first Thanksgiving.

Students and families at Lindbergh Early Childhood Education collected 1,291 food items this fall for St. Joseph’s Outreach and the St. Louis Area Foodbank. The school has conducted an annual food drive for more than 15 years, to teach students about responsibility, helping others and healthy eating habits. In addition, students learn counting with the cans, create a pretend grocery store, read and create their own food labels, and paint their favorite foods as part of the curriculum.

Kennerly Kindergarteners Learn About Native Americans

Kennerly kindergarten students traveled to the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial Nov. 16 to study Native American homes and the importance of the buffalo to the plains Indians. The boys and girls saw and explored many interesting items from the buffalo, including a buffalo stomach, bladder, shoulder bone and a buffalo chip. Students also took a guided tour of the museum.

LHS DECA Thanksgiving Baskets

students put together 18 Thanksgiving food baskets for Feed My People food pantry. Each basket contains a $15 gift card for a turkey, 10 pounds of potatoes, one package of rolls, a foil roasting pan, two cans of cranberries, four cans of corn and green beans, one jar of gravy, one pumpkin pie and two boxes of stuffing. Each basket is valued around $45. In all, 17 were donated by DECA and one by Key Club.
