Lindbergh High School Seniors Shine in National Spotlight

Lindbergh High School student Zecharias Mengis was named a National Achievement Scholarship semifinalist, and six students were named commended students in the 2013 National Merit Scholarship Program.

Lindbergh High School is proud to announce that six students have been chosen as 2013 National Merit Commended Students, and one student has been named a semifinalist in the 2013 National Achievement Scholarship Competition.

National Achievement Scholarship Semifinalist

LHS senior Zecharias Mengis is one of more than 1,600 Black American high school seniors who have been designated semifinalists in the 49th annual National Achievement Scholarship Program. More than 160,000 students nationwide were considered for the program, which is based on performance on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT). Zecharias has the opportunity to continue in the competition for approximately 800 Achievement Scholarship awards, worth more than $2.5 million, that will be offered next spring.

Zecharias is interested in pursuing political science when he begins college next year. The National Achievement Scholarship Program was started in 1964 to recognize academically promising black students throughout the nation and provide scholarships to the most outstanding program recipients.

National Merit Commended Students

Congratulations to LHS seniors (back row, L-R) Zachary Bollermann-Nowlis, Miranda Kroeger, Samuel Stoddard, (front row, L-R) Stephanie Fei, Marissa Kowalski and Doan Ho, who have been named as commended students in the 2013 National Merit Scholarship Program.

These students placed in the top 5 percent of more than 1.5 million students who entered the 2013 competition by taking the 2011 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).

I know the vast majority of Crestwood residents, myself included, wanted to see something done withRead More the old mall. It's too bad this is not reflected in our elected officials. I have given up hope. I just wish that I would have bought a house in Webster or Kirkwood rather than Crestwood. In a few years it will be nothing but empty buildings and resale stores while surrounding communities eat our lunch and our property taxes increase. What a shame.
