Murphy: We played a lot when I was really young. Played Wiffleball in the backyard with my dad, but I really do love it.

Patch: What positions have you played?

Murphy: 3rd base, 2nd base and outfield

Patch: What do you think about when you are out on the field or up at bat?

Murphy: I try to think just to stay within myself try not to do too much. The job has got to get done. Don’t try to hit a home run at every at bat.

Patch: When do you feel the most pressure on the field?

Murphy: Probably with runners in scoring position. Or when it’s the last out of the game and we’re down by one.

Patch: What is the stat you have so far that you feel proudest of?

Murphy: Probably my on base percentage.

Patch: How do you overcome a losing streak mentally?

Murphy: Usually I just try not to think about it. The kinks will work out themselves. Usually during the season I try not to look at my stats until the end so I can improve on next season. I try to just go out there and just focus and try to keep a level head and it’s worked so far.

Patch: Who is your baseball mentor or icon?

Murphy: That’d be my dad.

Patch: Do you plan to try to go pro? What is your backup plan?

Murphy: That’s the goal. I’m playing next year at Maryville and the coach seems to really like me, but I’m studying accounting so that would be my plan B.
