Washington Post Names Lindbergh No. 7 in Missouri

The announcement comes on the heels of Newsweek and U.S. News & World Report rankings.

The Washington Post is the latest to award as a top-ranked institution. Lindbergh is on the list of one of the best educational institutions in the nation, ranking No. 7 in Missouri and 937 of 1,900 nationwide in the Post's "High School Challenge."

This ranking comes on the heels of being ranked No. 8 in Missouri and No. 663 of 1,000 nationwide in Newsweek's "America's Best High Schools" and No. 8 in Missouri and No. 876 of 22,000 nationwide in U.S. News & World Report's "Best High Schools."

Each list ranks schools differently, but the goal is the same—to measure how well high schools prepare students for college.

“We are very proud of our school’s achievements, which are among the best in the nation, and they would not be possible without concerted team effort,” said Dr. Ron Helms, LHS principal, in a statement. “Lindbergh High School’s tradition of excellence is made possible by exceptional teachers at every level, K-12, students who exhibit good character and a strong work ethic, and parents who are committed to their children’s success.”

LHS offers both Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate options for students to help them prepare for college and earn college credit. In addition, 88 percent of students at LHS achieved proficiency in English 2 in 2011, while 73 percent scored proficient or better in Algebra 1.
