Commercial or Residential? Sunset Hills Residents decide...

Another "boring" meeting at City Hall? Not tonight!!!

Wow, I have received a number of phone calls from people in my Ward and from other areas of the City regarding the Public Hearing tonight at 7 p.m. at City Hall.  The issue being discussed will be the possible updating of the City Master Plan, which is a reference or a guide for policy decisions regarding the development of our community.

The City Master Plan typically deals with land use and determining what is in the best interest of the City of Sunset Hills and our Residents.  The Master Plan was adopted in January of 2000 and was updated in 2003, which is reviewed periodically.

Part of the concern is that the "City" is making the tornado affected area of West Watson Road and S. Lindbergh residents "sell" their homes so the "City" can add commercial income producing businesses.  This is not the case...at least as I know it.

Additional concerns is that several residents have "already" sold their homes to different developers.  There is also a resident who had a home damaged and is wanting to sell that home for commercial use and was appointed to the Planning and Zoning Commission after the tornado.  The Planning and Zoning Commission cannot be vetoed by the Board of Aldermen!  Isn't that interesting?  Especially since the new appointee was a former Alderman. Hmmmmmm....can't wait for tonight!  And you thought Sunset Hills was boring!
