The Few, The Proud, Our Marines!!

Marine Week

We are in the middle of Marine Week.  What a great honor it is for us civilian types to see what these men can do, what they stand for and who is it they sacrifice so passionately for. (us)  I am very proud of all of our service men and women, as they all sacrifice for us as they serve their country unashamedly.  Some of the tools they have at their disposal, the technology they master and the internal fortitude they have developed to serve all of us is truly amazing.   Actually a little spooky what they can do nowadays!

I am not a military person, but have always had a tremendous respect and admiration for the men and women in the military as they each perform an individual refined task to support a collective outcome.  I am amazed at their skills and their focus on the smallest detail.  They get what it means to "serve" and  to "honor" as it shows in their demeanor, in their walk, in the way they hold their head in confidence and in the way they project their strength.  I love it when I get to shake a Marines' hand...it is never a limp fish hand shake...They mean it when they shake your hand!  I also love it when I thank them for their service, or for being at a particular function...they always reply, "It's an Honor Sir."...how cool is that? You know they mean it!  It's easy for me to be proud to be an American...I get tears in my eyes when I sing the Star Spangled Banner and goose bumps when I hear taps.  I also get a lump in my throat when I hear of a Marine or any soldier not making it back from service to his country.

Yes Sir...I am going to enjoy Marine Week the rest of the year...I'll even shake on it!!
