The Flyers defense came back against Oakville, but eventually fell short in two games, 25-16 and 28-26. The loss gave the Tigers the conference title.
Oakville came out strong in the first game and defeated Lindbergh 25-16. Their defense stopped the Flyers’ tips and slide hits and had a 10-point lead at one point.
“The first match, I don’t even know what happened; we missed four serves, we couldn’t pass, we didn’t play our defense,” said Lindbergh coach Johnna Wieter. “Oakville came out ready to play and we did not.”

The second game wasn’t as easy for the Tigers. Lindbergh tied it up after Oakville led 6-1 off consistent serves from Jennifer Brendel. The two teams went point-for-point, passing 25. Several kills by Jill Harmon kept Lindbergh in the game until a kill from the middle ended the game, 28-26 in Oakville’s favor. Harmon finished the game with eight kills.
“We started playing better defense, we started passing well and in the end, it was serve receive,” Wieter said. “Oakville served very aggressively. They just played better than us tonight."

Lindbergh is now 18-11 for the season and has their last regular-season game Thursday at home against Webster Groves.
