Lindbergh Loses Heartbreaker to Lafayette in Overtime

The Flyers fall 24-21 in overtime as Lafayette kicks a 27-yard field goal and hangs in the extra session.

Lafayette junior Daniel Menees blasted home a 27-yard field goal on the first possession of overtime, then watched as his teammates on defense held off host Lindbergh for a thrilling 24-21 victory at Flyers Field.

Lindbergh led by a touchdown with just under four minutes left in regulation, but Lafayette’s Deonte Robinson scored on a two-yard run, and Menees added the extra point to tie the score at 21.

Flyers senior quarterback Peter Simpson threw two touchdown passes in the losing effort, while his counterpart, Lafayette senior Dominic Bisesi, connected on a scoring toss of his own and also led the Lancers on its game-tying drive in the final minutes of regulation play.
