Lindbergh Secures Homecoming Victory

The Lions commit three critical miscues in the final five minutes that lead to three touchdowns for the Flyers. Don't forget to check out our photos from the game on Facebook!

A good old-fashioned smash-mouth, defensive struggle of a football game became a rather convincing Homecoming Night victory for Lindbergh on Friday night, as the Flyers scored three touchdowns in the final five minutes to defeat Suburban West Conference rival Northwest, 26-6.

Both teams had their struggles with turnovers and sloppy play, but Lindbergh's Garrett Krueger made big play after big play all night for the Flyers, including an unofficial stat count of 242 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns to lead his club to the win.

It was his fumble return for a touchdown that got Lindbergh on the board in the first quarter, and Krueger's 1-yard plunge through the line in the fourth quarter that gave the Flyers the lead for good in a victory they absolutely had to have to stay alive in the Suburban West and MSHSAA playoff races.

Northwest's Cling Grobelny had an interception, blocked a punt, and blocked a field goal to help keep the Lions in the game.
