Slyman Moves Toward State Champ

COLUMBIA, MO --Lindbergh High School's top-ranked Michael Slyman has an opportunity to grab a state championship today, Saturday, at the 2011 Missouri Wrestling State Championships.

Slyman will face Timberland’s Jesse Freise in the 152-pound weight class.

This is Day Three of the competition. Only 112 of the 896 wrestlers that survived Day One still have a shot to win a state title.

Lindbergh is tied for 14th place with 34.5 points.

Timberland is in 10th place with 48.5 points.

Eureka still has a shot at the top. Mehlville and Oakville have no wrestlers remaining in the tournament.

The group is in Class 4 at the state tourney.
