Joplin Needs Water and Snacks; Donate; Truck Leaves Friday from Sunset Hills

Cavernous moving van awaits donations of goods for volunteers working in this heat, in Joplin tornado devastation.

Sunset Hills Alderwoman Dee Baebler called Thursday for more donations to go to Joplin by Friday. She heads up a committee collecting key items for tornado recovery workers.

Baebler said we have another day to load the giant moving van, and apparently Joplin had enough to wait a day or so for the supplies. 

Baebler said volunteer workers asked for and "desperately" need:

  • Bottled Water
  • Gatorade
  • Tarps
  • Granola Bars

Leave donations in the Community Center at City Hall complex. It's open until 9pm Thursday.

"This area is devastated, relief workers are exhausted, people are grieving and heartbroken. . .please help," Baebler said.

"Please remember, they need a large blood supply and medical personnel, as well," she said.

Some 900 were injured, 132 dead and 4o missing in the monster tornado a week ago.
