This school has gone through many phases since its first rock one-room building in 1868, just after the Civil War. It grew to a two-room frame house but a storm in 1901 blew it off its foundations. By 1926 there were four classrooms, an auditorium and cafeteria. Additions were built throughout the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s. The high school was housed here until 1951 when Lindbergh High School was built and neighboring districts consolidated.
