Long Elementary School students, parents and teachers have been working together all spring to renovate the school's courtyard.
Long Elementary School’s courtyard recently got a big makeover, thanks to the help of students, staff and parents. Learn more about the project, from the Lindbergh School District. The somewhat famous fish and his little pond used to be the only sign of life among what the school had nicknamed its “concrete oasis,” a paved courtyard with a chipped and faded blue paint stream and full exposure to the sun that made it largely unusable. Now, the courtyard is thriving as a warm, colorful and inviting outdoor learning space for children, with four areas, including: “Character Court,” a quiet, shaded reading area surrounded by colorful banners; “Lindbergh Landing,” with a soft carpet of turf and outdoor chalkboard for classroom lessons; “Free …

The first 300 participants to test drive vehicles at Lindbergh High School on Saturday will earn $20 each toward the school district, and be entered to win a free iPad.
Community members age 18 and older are invited to get it in gear for Lindbergh Schools on Saturday, May 4, during the iDrive free test drive event at Lindbergh High School, sponsored by Sunset Ford. The first 300 participants who test drive any one of Ford’s 13 models will be entered for a chance to win a free iPad, according to a news release from the school district. The event is scheduled 9 a.m.- 4 p.m. Ford is donating $20 for each test drive taken, up to $6,000 total, as part of its “Drive One 4UR School” program, according to the release. All proceeds will benefit the Lindbergh Schools Foundation. Participants take a 10-minute test drive--no sales pitch involved. Taste-D-Burger food truck will be offering burgers and fries, and LHS …

Kennerly Student Collects Change for Baldrick’s Collections are still rolling in for St. Baldrick’s at Kennerly Elementary School! Devi Staudte, a fifth-grader in Mr. Nick Argint’s class, recently brought in $62 that she has been collecting for the event since March. Devi did not shave her head, but she still wanted to find a way to give back to the cause. Donations are still being accepted online as well, at http://www.stbaldricks.org/events/mypage/10153/2013. Student musicians will be performing with a video recording of "Victory at Sea" at their spring concert on April 30.
The Lindbergh High School Symphony Orchestra will honor World War II veterans by performing music to a video recording of “Victory at Sea,” during the annual spring concert at 7 p.m., April 30, in the Lindbergh Auditorium, according to a news release from the Lindbergh School District. “We will be honoring all veterans during the concert, and hope the community will join us in this musical celebration,” LHS orchestra director Sue Rola said. “Victory at Sea” is a documentary television series about Naval warfare during World War II, according to the news release. How much is too much to spend on high school prom festivities?
If $1,139 fell into your lap, how would you spend it? When asked, Patch editors said they'd put their money toward new furniture, house payments, student loans, a vacation to South America or, "Diapers. Lots and lots of diapers." But for average families with kids planning for prom season, that amount of money will be spent on limos, dresses and other prom-related expenses. Lindbergh Early Childhood Education Pre-K teacher Lisa Janis was honored as the Teacher of the Year; Sperreng Middle School secretary Donna Bouckaert is the district's Support Person of the Year.
The Lindbergh School District announced the 2013-2014 Teacher of the Year and Support Person of the Year in a news release: Teacher of the Year: Lisa Janis, Lindbergh Early Childhood Education Lisa Janis is the lead Pre-K teacher at Lindbergh Early Childhood Education, where she has worked for the past 20 years. That's according to the U.S. News and World Report, which listed Lindbergh High School as the 7th best high school in the state.
Lindbergh High School made the 2013 list of top-ranked Missouri schools released by U.S. News & World Report on Tuesday. The magazine placed Lindbergh as No. 7 in its report of 2013 Best High Schools Rankings. Last year, the school was among eight Gold Star Schools. U.S. News collaborated with the American Institutes for Research, a D.C.-based organization, to rank student performance on such criteria as state-mandated assessments, how the schools educated minority or poor students, and performance on advanced placement exams in order to develop the rankings. Students partnered with buddies from area elementary schools for a day of outdoor play.
More than 175 Lindbergh High School volunteers partnered with 'buddies' from area elementary schools to participate in Special Olympics softball games at Affton Athletic Association ball fields on April 4, according to a news release from the Lindbergh School District. Buddies also enjoyed Hot Wheels races, face painting, cup bowling and pig races. Special Olympics allows students to compete in sports at their own ability level. LHS Student Council members served as referees, according to the release. Prom shouldn't cost that much! I bought a dress for about $30 at Dillards over the summer, while it was on clearance. It's a gorgeous dress and it was a lucky find! Prom tickets cost me $110, and that included dinner, so that wasn't too bad. I did my own hair, nails and makeup for free! My dad drove me instead of getting a limo or paying for parking.
