St. Louis Writers Bring Romance to Walgreens This Weekend

Four local authors, including two from Sunset Hills, will be signing books at the Gravois Bluffs Walgreens in Fenton this Saturday.

A South County author has established a literary partnership with a nearby Walgreen's, and the store manager said their effort could set a regional trend.  Sandie Grassino, who recently published a book on Sunset Hills history, was introduced to Fenton Walgreens manager Lou Wachowe through a distributor at Arcadia Publishing. The store hosted a book signing for Grassino in August, which Wachowe said was a great success for both parties--so much so that he decided to organize a multi-author event.  These are the first events of this type at a St. Louis Walgreens, Wachowe said. They boast board games, a cozy fireplace, space for small and large meet-ups alike, and a selection of wine and microbrews. But expect Wired to begin offering a bevy of public events for patrons of all interests, from gaming nights to…

Sunset Hills Book Captures History in Images

Local author Sandie Grassino gives insight into preparing the book for release July 23.

After growing up in Sunset Hills and being a life-long South County resident, Sandie Grassino has found herself a calling to be a storyteller. From teaching English, theatre and creative writing at Northwest High School to being a member of the Sunset Hills Historical Society, Grassino's latest form of storytelling is in paper form. Images in America: Sunset Hills is set for release July 23, joining her other book Images in America: Jefferson Barracks on bookstore shelves in Barnes & Noble, Walgreens, the Book House on Manchester and Amazon.com. "This is a multi-generational book," Grassino said, flipping through the photo-filled pages of the nine chapter compilation. "Hopefully people will see a picture and think, 'Oh, yeah, I remember …
