Parks and Rec Wants 'Traffic' at Community Center For Paying the Bills

Board wants to tweak budget proposal for coming year and get a percentage of cost "recovery."

Sunset Hills Parks and Recreation Board is looking to put on its game face for the round of budget negotiations coming up in August, for the coming year. The debt of last year's $9 million for a Community Center and Aquatic Facility, as well as upkeep and staffing are weighing on the collective mind of the board. While figures weren't made available yet, Parks and Recreation Director Gerald Brown told the board he is looking for more "traffic" in and out of the facilities, to spread the word on all the opportunities for city residents, and build revenue. The Community Center is looking for fitness club memberships on the lower level of the center. And party and meeting rooms are available for rent on the main floor—rooms with windows …

Crestwood Poolooza Next Saturday, Adults Only

City gets OK for June 4 pool party serving alcohol, food, music.

Crestwood's Parks and Recreation got the go-ahead from aldermen earlier this month to throw a pool party at the city's Aquatic Center for adults only, serving alcohol, food and providing music.  It's Saturday night! Circle the date, June 4, 8:30pm in Whitecliff Park, in Crestwood. Buy the $20 tickets by 5pm the Wednesday before, June 1, at the Community Center, 9245 Whitecliff Park Lane. Officials said folks have been looking to throw a bash like this for a while, and look for a good-size turnout—and good weather. Sorry, no kids allowed. Community Center Finds Holiday Zest In Many Ways

Parks and Recreation geared up to throw a pizza party for Santa on Saturday, set holiday contests in motion, forward mail to elves, turn holiday lights 'green.'

Sunset Hills' Parks and Recreation Department is set to throw a pizza party lunch Saturday for Santa and area youngsters at the newest hot spot in the city--the Community Center, 3915 S. Lindbergh. Families and their children gather at 11:30 a.m., for food, soda, fun, games and photo opportunities with Santa Claus after lunch, until 1 p.m. The cost is $7.50 with lunch and $3 without lunch.  Families will have the opportunity to look about the new facility--gym, fitness and weight room, workout room, meeting rooms and more.
