Deck the House Contest: St. Louis Area Home Makes Final Round

This Affton house is the only St. Louis area finalist in Patch’s national Deck the House contest! Vote now to help them win $100,000 for schools.

Could this be the best “decked” house in the country?  Possibly. Congrats to Patrick and Denise Dolan for being chosen as one of the 24 finalists in our Deck the House contest! The Dolan’s Christmas decorations are so elaborate that Patrick Dolan finally bought a second electric service so they could run the washing machine and microwave at the same time as the nativity scene and the singing Santa. Patrick added 5,000 lights this year, drawing a total of more than 100 amps of power. Sunset Hills Names Best Holiday Lights 2012

Eight homes were recognized in the city's annual lighting contest.

Itching to see a dazzling holiday lights display? You don't have to go far. The City of Sunset Hills recognized eight spirited homes, including the above "traffic stopper" on Sunset Bluff Court, as the winners of their 2012 Holiday Lights Contest. Monday night the city's Parks Board judged contest entrants; the winners were announced at Tuesday's Board of Aldermen meeting.  This year's winners include: Do you know a Sunset Hills or Crestwood family whose fantastic holiday display should be recognized? Have them enter Patch's Deck the House Contest through Dec. 16!

We’ve launched our annual Deck the House Contest to find the most over-the-top holiday decorations in America—the best “decked” house in the country—the one home so spectacularly decorated that everyone in town jokes your holiday decorations could rival Rockefeller Center’s. If this sounds like your house, upload a photo or video of your home to our contest page from Nov. 26 to Dec. 16. This is the site where you can learn how to enter the contest. Only residents of Patch towns are eligible to enter. We’ll select 24 regional finalists, and from them, pick one grand prize winner. Celebration of Lights in O'Fallon  Celebration of Lights is a drive-through holiday light display in Fort Zumwalt Park in O'Fallon, which is designed and funded by local organizations, churches and businesses. This event attracts more than 5,000 individuals on walk-through night. The event runs from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday, and Tuesday through Thursday (except Tuesday, December 11) and 6 to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.  Admission is $9 for cars, $15 for commercial vans, $1 per person on tour buses.  On Mondays, you can schedule a train ride through the park. The Sperreng Middle School Environmental Club is offering the community a great way to reduce waste and spread cheer this holiday season by donating your broken or unwanted holiday lights to St. Louis Green’s 2012 Holiday Light Recycling Drive.

‘Tis the Season to Recycle!  The Sperreng Middle School Environmental Club is offering the community a great way to reduce waste and spread cheer this holiday season by donating your broken or unwanted holiday lights to St. Louis Green’s 2012 Holiday Light Recycling Drive!  Community members, Lindbergh families and employees can drop off unwanted lights in the front commons of Sperreng Middle School between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, between now and Jan. 13, 2013. Please note that the school will be closed for holidays Nov. 21-23 and Dec. 21-Jan. 2.
