The original July 3 celebration was canceled because of dangerous conditions for fireworks displays. A new date has been selected for the fall.
People across St. Louis will get a chance to see JB Blast fireworks this fall. The event has been rescheduled for Friday, Oct. 5, as noted in a Facebook event created by St. Louis County Executive Charlie Dooley. JB Blast was originally scheduled for July 3, but was canceled when the Lemay Fire Protection District—like other districts around St. Louis—denied the event a fireworks permit due to extreme heat. "We are confident the weather will be more favorable in the fall and that both the concert and fireworks will be as exciting and meaningful as always," Dooley stated in the Facebook event. The JB Blast is being rescheduled, possibly for as late as October.

The annual Fourth of July event was postponed Friday when the Lemay Fire Protection District—like districts around St. Louis—denied the event a fireworks permit due to extreme heat. St. Louis County Councilman Steve Stenger said he heard whispers of delaying the event until October, when residents won't have to worry about 100+ degree heat waves. "I think all are thinking the weather will be better, and since we missed the fourth, it can be a little later," Stenger said. "Maybe it will be October-blast?" Would you go to a Fourth of July event in October? Or should we schedule it sometime in Juy? What do you want?

That means the JB Blast won't be able to have fireworks. Extremely dry ground cover, lack of rain, low humidty and high temperatures all contributed to Lemay Fire Protection District's decision, said acting duty officer Norm Glover. St. Louis County Councilman Steve Stenger said the event might be postponed until as late as October when "weather will be better." The fire district's decision came in after Patch ran a story saying the fireworks were still on. Does this change your Fourth of July plans? Let …
