$850K Spent to Buy Land Next to Long Elementary

Part of the land will be used for a parking lot, notes an update on the Lindbergh School District website.

The purchase of 4.6 acres of land next to Long Elementary School is expected to help with traffic concerns for parents, notes an update on the Lindbergh School District website. The property, which was purchased for $850,000, will be used for a parking lot and field space, as well as an alternate exit for vehicles, the website notes.  The district paid $850,000 for the property. The Lindbergh Board of Education approved the purchase during a closed meeting on Oct. 9, a news release issued on Dec. 21 notes.  "Interest rates are at historic lows and the value of this property is likely to increase over time,” said Dr. Vic Lenz, president of the school board, in a statement. “This space will allow us to meet the needs of Long Elementary …

Three Candidates Participate in Lindbergh School Board Forum

General satisfaction with the school district and school board was expressed by Karen Schuster, Kate Holloway and George Rezabek, all of whom are seeking positions on the board of education.

The 50 or so people who attended a forum for candidates for the Lindbergh Board of Education witnessed a low key affair Thursday where the candidates expressed their overall support for the current board and administration of Lindbergh. Three of four school board candidates attended the forum: Karen Schuster, Kate Holloway and George Rezabek. A fourth candidate on the April 3 ballot—James Goss—was not in attendance. Neither Schuster, Holloway or Rezabek said they were running to change the way the board of education or to correct any major problems in the Lindbergh School District. Former Lindbergh Board Members Reunite at Annual Luncheon

Current superintendent Dr. Jim Simpson shared information with the former board members about Lindbergh’s growing enrollment, interactive teaching technology and more.

Seven former Lindbergh Schools Board of Education members and former Superintendent Gary Wright visited Lindbergh earlier this month to catch up on district news and share their insights, as seen on the Lindbergh School District website. Superintendent Dr. Jim Simpson shared information with the former board members about Lindbergh’s growing enrollment, interactive teaching technology and student test scores that have ranked No. 1 in the state for two consecutive years. Current board members also were in attendance and discussed topics such as the recent purchase of Dressel School, which is home to the elementary gifted program and will someday be the site of a sixth elementary school.
