The fast food chicken joint got the OK from the Sunset Hills Board of Aldermen on Tuesday. It will be the eighth location for the chain in St. Louis.
Chick-Fil-A's chicken sandwiches are coming to Sunset Hills next year. The fast food chain received unanimous approval from the city's Board of Aldermen to demolish and occupy a portion of the former Regions Bank building at 10722 Sunset Hills Plz., joining a Panda Express, Great Clips and Mattress Firm. A Chick-Fil-A representative said the new restaurant should be open in 2013. The new space will have seating for 132 customers, an indoor play area, and two lanes to accomodate a large drive-thru audience. The store would be open 6:30 a.m. - 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and closed on Sundays. Despite hefty opposition from both nearby businesses and residents over a proposed gas station on Lindbergh Boulevard--including a petition of 174 signatures from Sunset Hills residents --not everyone thinks it's such a bad idea. Sunset Hills resident Kathie Berkel shares her support for a new Petro Mart in an editorial to Call Newspapers. "Change and growth are going to happen. We can't change that," she writes. Sunset Hills police have yet to offer additional details about a shooting Monday evening, which the victim said occurred in the Burger King parking lot off Lindbergh Boulevard. The 45-year-old man told police he was approached by a man with a long barrel revolver, and shot following a struggle to disarm his attacker. The restaurant's general manager told FOX2's Chris Regnier that there was “apparently some question from officers last night about whether the shooting actually happened here or somewhere else." A 45-year-old man suffered multiple gunshot wounds, which he said occurred after a struggle with a stranger in the fast food restaurant's parking lot Monday evening.
A man says he was shot Monday in the parking lot at the Sunset Hills Burger King, located at the intersection of Sunset Hills Plaza and Lindbergh Boulevard. The incident was not reported at the restaurant, but later that evening when the victim's wife escorted him to an area hospital. Police say he was approached by a man with a long barrel revolver while walking through the parking lot around 8:30 p.m. Sunset Hills police are still investigating the incident.
