Help Crestwood Animal Control Reunite Lost Dog With Owner

Do you know anyone in the Crestwood, Sunset Hills or Kirkwood areas who is missing a dog? Crestwood Animal Control Officer Nancy Hunt said a young male (pictured), whose breed they can't identify, was found running loose at Emmenegger Nature Park. "He’s short like a bull-dog but looks like a chow.  Less than a year old, not neutered," she said. The dog had a red collar but no tags; the dog was not microchipped. Anyone who can assist Animal Control in getting the dog back to his owners should call 314-729-4868.

Lost Dog’s Owner Mystery Solved, But Still Needs New Home

The Crestwood animal shelter is using Facebook to reunite lost pets with owners, and thousands of South County residents have been helping out.

You could call Nancy Hunt a ‘pet detective’—one of her responsibilities as Crestwood Animal Control Officer is reuniting lost pets with owners. Many residents know the animal shelter in Crestwood’s Whitecliff Park acts as an adoption center—but it’s also become a preferred lost pet drop-off for South County residents. (The St. Louis County Animal Control shelter is located in Olivette.) Hunt posts these animals to STL Lost Pets, but the use of Facebook—and the participation of more than 4,000 users in one case—is proving to be a fast, efficient way to let neighbors help her spread the word. The female dog has a microchip, but it is not registered to the owner.

Do you know anyone in the Crestwood or Webster Grove areas who is missing a terrier dog? Crestwood Animal Control Officer Nancy Hunt said an adult female, whose breed they can't identify, was found by a shelter volunteer. The dog had a beige collar but no tags; a microchip was not registered to the owner. Her name was Pixey at the time she was microchipped, she said. Anyone who can assist Animal Control in getting the dog back to his owners should call 314-729-4868.
