Sunset Hills Bar Named 'Best Lounge' by Riverfront Times Readers

Mile 277 is featured among other St. Louis-area favorites in the publication's Restaurants 2013 guide.

RFT readers chose Mile 277 Tap & Grill, 10709 Watson Rd. in Sunset Hills, as the St. Louis area's best lounge/club, the publication revealed in its Restaurants 2013 guide. "It is so much more than a biker bar," according to RFT, "though chopper enthusiasts will delight in all the motorcycles and bike-themed art placed here and there, and dive into dishes like the "Hog Heaven" pulled-pork sandwich and the "Side Valve" sliders." Runners up included 360, Pepper Lounge, Area 14 and Basso. Pick up the newest issue of RFT to get your own Restaurants 2013 supplement. What's your favorite 'lounge' area? Super Bowl 2013: What Time, Where to Watch in Sunset Hills, Crestwood

Where in St. Louis do you plan to watch the San Francisco 49ers take on the Baltimore Ravens for Super Bowl 47?

It's already being called the Harbowl: a Super Bowl clash between San Francisco 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh and Baltimore Ravens coach John Harbaugh. The Harbaughs are the first pair of brothers to work as head coaches in the NFL, and they'll square off for Super Bowl 47 on Feb. 3.  This year, Missouri has a few connections to the big game. Locally, St. Louis resident Joe Larrew has been selected as an official for the Super Bowl, Bernie Miklasz of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. Veterans from the University of Missouri football program also are represented on each team: 49ers defensive ends Aldon Smith and Justin Smith and Ravens coach Ted Monachino all played at Mizzou, and Ravens offensive line coach Andy Moeller previously coached …

PHOTOS: Holiday Inn Route 66-Themed Renovations in Progress

New owners mean plenty of changes for the Sunset Hills hotel--including possible event collaborations with adjoined restaurant Mile 277.

While ownership of the Sunset Hills Holiday Inn officially changed hands last week, renovations to convert the 'Viking' into a Route 66 destination have already begun.  The hotel is expected to finish its conversion to Holiday Inn Route 66 by spring 2013, sales manager Jana Wilkey said.  New carpeting and wallpaper have already been installed in some hallways, and a renovation on the lobby bar is almost complete. Work is in progress on the grand ballroom, which is waiting for new light fixtures, Wilkey said. A new entrance and upgrades to individual rooms are slated to begin in mid-January, she added.  The general manager of the adjoining Mile 277 believes the hotel's renovation will have positive effects on business. The End of the World in Sunset Hills: Two Ways to Celebrate December 21, 2012

Party the end of days away on Lindbergh Boulevard--attend a doomsday book discussion at Wired Coffee with T.W. Fendley, or rock out with Glorious Blue at Mile 277.

Do you think something big is in store for Dec. 21, 2012? So do two Lindbergh Boulevard businesses, which have scheduled 'end of the world' events to coincide with the turning of the Mayan calendar this Friday.  Wired Coffee hosts a book signing with Chesterfield author T.W. Fendley, whose science-fiction work “Zero Time” mixes Mayan prophecy with time travel. Meet her at the Sunset Hills coffee shop from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., 3860 S. Lindbergh Blvd. Fendley doesn’t think doomsday is headed our way, but does believe the date indicates the beginning of a new time cycle. She contacted Wired owner Sue Hamer to hold a Dec. 21 event. “It started out as a book signing, but I wanted it to be more than that, because it really is a time to celebrate…
