The performance organization wants to hear stories from local moms. Those stories chosen will be part of an area Mothers Day show on May 11.
Do you have a crazy or heartwarming story you want to share about motherhood? Then a special performance debuting in West St. Louis County in May may be your chance to tell it. Listen to Your Mother (LTYM) is part of a national series of 24 live readings that will take place across the country to celebrate Mother’s Day 2013. The show will be on Saturday, May 11, at the St. Luke's Institute for Health Education, 232 South Woods Mill Road, in Chesterfield. St. Louis is among 24 cities selected to host this special performance, which will feature some of St. Louis’ most talented writers and bloggers on the beauty, the best, and the barely rested of motherhood. A Mother’s Day brunch is just one of the new events set for the three-day fair.
The three-day Laumeier Art Fair begins Friday, marking its 25th anniversary. The event features 150 artists, music, entertainment, art activities for children and an array of tasty offerings. The artists, who come from 33 different states, will exhibit work for sale in 11 categories: ceramics, fiber / textiles, glass, jewelry, mixed media, painting, photography / digital, printmaking / drawing, sculpture and wood. A total of $11,000 in prizes will be awarded to artists achieving excellence. Congratulations to Gina Marten, who won the grand prize $150 brunch after entering our Mother's Day Look-a-Like Contest on Patch. The contest started May 2 and ran through Tuesday at noon. Gina registered for the contest on Kirkwood Patch. Winners were chosen at random from the entries we received. The runners-up won a Patch T-shirt.
