The Missouri sales tax holiday is underway and runs until midnight, Sunday. From Aug. 3 - 5, Missouri is waiving the state 4.225 percent sales tax and St. Louis County is waiving its 2.7 percent sales tax. Shoppers can save at least close to 7 percent of some purchases as a result. (Read Previous Story: Sales Tax Holiday Now Underway) Sales tax in waived on select items this weekend. Scouts around the area will be peddling cookies.
The Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri will kick off their annual cookie drive this Saturday. On Cookie Go! Day, as the kickoff is called, girls will begin taking orders and raising money to benefit Girl Scouts. The cookies will come in the same seven flavors as last year: Thanks-A-Lot, Lemonades, Shout Out!, Peanut Butter Sandwich, Peanut Butter Patties, Thin Mints and Caramel deLites. Girl Scouts from troops across eastern Missouri, from St. Louis to north in Putnam Country to south in Ste. Genevieve, will begin selling cookies on Saturday, Jan. 21 at $3.50 per package.
