A 92-year-old woman, who was allegedly stomped by her granddaughter Rachel Armstrong in November, died from her injuries on Monday at an area hospital, according to a report from KSDK. Armstrong, of the 10000 block of Golf Crest in South County's Sappington area, is accused of throwing down her elderly grandmother and stomping on her, breaking both her arms and eight ribs on Nov. 12. A South St. Louis County woman is accused of throwing down her 92-year-old grandmother and stomping on her, breaking both her arms and eight ribs Nov. 12. Rachel Armstrong, 37, of the 10000 block of Golf Crest in South County's Sappington area, was charged Thursday with first-degree elder abuse. St. Louis County Police said Armstrong admitted to throwing down her grandmother and stomping on the woman Nov. 12, also in the 10000 block of Golf Crest. Armstrong told police she believed her grandmother was a demon, according to a report from KMOV. Armstrong was being held Tuesday in St. Louis County jail. Bail was set at $75,000, cash only. As the Sappington Farmers' Market closes its doors, residents prepare warily for the shuttered, empty, dusty storefront that feels ubiquitous in today's struggling economic climate. There are a variety of Memorial day ceremonies in and around South County.
Several events this weekend will serve as a reminder to all the sacrifices that have been made by America's heroes in the nation's wars. Thousand of Boy Scouts will fan out among the grave markers at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, 2900 Sheridan Rd., South County, to place small American flags on the graves of the military men and women buried there. Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts and Venture Scouts will perform its annual Memorial Day Good Turn Sunday starting with a ceremony to honor deceased military members at 1 p.m. The keynote speaker for the event will be U.S. Army Major Sean Brown. I'm sure you're feeling bad, Kathy, but sometimes we can't prevent these awful things from happening except in hindsight. I wish the Patch would provide us with more of the backstory since there seems to be one.
