Crestwood Resident Calls Out City As "Resale Community of the World"

Do you think the increased popularity (and presence) of thrift shops is specific to Crestwood--or is it happening across St. Louis?

Are you concerned with the quality of new businesses coming to Crestwood? The city has already seen some additions to the business community in 2013: Culver's, The Barn, Pole Position Raceway and a Savers thrift store.  See which businesses came to Crestwood and Sunset Hills in 2012: Year in Review: New Business in Crestwood and Sunset Hills The Board of Aldermen will soon vote on a proposed resale shop called Hidden Gems at 9051 Watson Rd. Hidden Gems profits would benefit Lutheran Senior Services to "assist clients, patients and residents who need financial assistance for their care," according to a call for store volunteers posted on Patch. Thanks, Stephen D, I thought the Goodwill was in Sunset Hills. My mistake. I found a little church resale shop down in the valley east of Colandro Hill. And Savers, of course. When Borders and Barnes & Noble were alive, did people complain of too many book stores? :)   more ›

Crestwood Savers Opens This Week, Grand Opening on Thursday

A ribbon cutting is scheduled for the morning of Feb. 21.

Savers is celebrating the opening of its fourth store in Missouri with a grand opening at its new Crestwood store, 9618 Watson Rd., Feb. 21-23.  “We’re very excited to open our second store in the St. Louis area,” new store manager Myrten Byrd said in a news release from the company. “The support we’re able to provide the local community makes us proud, and we can’t wait to welcome both new and familiar customers to the store and introduce them to all our great deals offered throughout our aisles.” The thrift store chain has scheduled a ribbon cutting ceremony for 8:30 a.m. on Feb. 21, which will include representatives from local Savers partner Vietnam Veterans of America.  The store stocks up to 10,000 gently used items every day, …

Borders becomes Steinmart, Barnes and Noble becomes some cheapo "savers" store. Crestwood and Sunset Hills change from nice bedroom communities to centers for the "poor" to shop, that is, expect more street crime from the "shoppers" visiting your neighborhood. It's stunning to see how even this area is deteriorating. Can't wait for 4 more years of the Obama gang.   more ›
