Schools Redistricting Vote Upsets Some Parents

A handful of Lindbergh district parents claim their questions weren't answered and expressed frustration over the transfer of children to schools farther from home.

A unanimous vote Tuesday by the Lindbergh school district's Board of Education to alter elementary school district boundaries left a handful of parents saying afterward that they felt betrayed. “What happened to the neighborhood schools we were promised in the fall? We were told they would try to leave kids going to the school they lived the closest to,” said Jim Gebken, a parent living near Concord Elementary whose children are being moved to a different school.  The Board of Ed approved without changes a plan for re-drawing school boundary lines recommended by the designated Boundary Committee headed up by Assistant Superintendent Pat Lanane.  The shakeup comes about in the next school year when 800-student Truman Elementary becomes a …
