Freezing rain tonight and cold, cold, cold

Get out the salt for your driveway. Winter doesn't arrive until Monday according to the calendar, but winter here.

While city residents emerged from the weekend's snow and cold, the possibility of freezing temperatures and rain Wednesday night make for a slippery Thursday morning drive to work and school. Low Wednesday creeping up to all of 20 degrees. The remainder of the week looks like lows in the teens and highs in the 30s--at the most. Last weekend, Sunset Hills and Crestwood Public Works crews began plowing streets and spreading salt during the snowfall Saturday night. In Sunset Hills, a five-member crew started at midnight Saturday and worked through noon Sunday. Another five-person crew took over the plowing from noon through about 9 p.m. Sunday. Another crew went out Monday morning, salting and plowing as needed, according to city officials. …
