Flyers Hang Tough in 10-7 Season-Ending Loss at Parkway South

The Flyers maintained a 7-7 tie well into the 4th quarter, but fell with just a few minutes left in the game.

The score was supposed to be much more lopsided. They weren’t supposed to have the ball with two minutes left and a chance to win the game. But that’s where the Lindbergh Flyers found themselves Friday night in their district opener at Parkway South thanks to an impressive defensive effort that kept the underdogs in the game from start to finish. So when his offense couldn’t put together a game-winning drive and they suffered a heart-breaking 10-7 loss to end their season, Lindbergh coach Tom Beauchamp couldn’t find a negative thing to say.  “The kids came to play, they played their hearts out and gave it everything they had,” Beauchamp said. “I have no complaints or gripes. Our kids played with everything they had.  “They have a lot of …

Fourth Quarter Goalline Misses Too Much To Overcome For Lindbergh In Senior Night Loss To Mehlville

Flyers fall to 3-6, after 14-2 loss, in final home game for seniors.

Like often happens in sports, a close and controversial call that went against the Lindbergh High football team Friday night, might have made the difference, as the Flyers played their final home game of the season at Flyers Field on the Lindbergh campus. Wide receiver-turned quarterback Chuck Houska hit tight end Brad MacKeen for a sprint out pass that looked like a touchdown that would’ve pulled Lindbergh to within seven points early in the fourth quarter. Instead though, the officials ruled that MacKeen didn’t break the plane of the goalline on the 4th-and-goal play, and in fact, did not score, which gave the ball back to visiting Mehlville, which held on for a 14-2 win over the Flyers. “It’s really tough when a call like that goes …

Lindbergh Scores Late Homecoming Win Against Northwest

Turnovers prove costly, as Lions give up three late touchdowns in 26-6 loss at Lindbergh.

Going into Friday's homecoming match-up, both the Lindbergh Flyers and the Northwest Lions could say they were desperate for a win. And for 43 minutes, Friday night at Lindbergh's Flyers Field, the Lions were doing a fantastic job of ruining all the fun for the Flyers, keeping what was supposed to be a home team blowout tied at 6 apiece. But in the final five minutes, Northwest finally caved. With two critical turnovers and a botched fake punt, Lindbergh put up three easy touchdowns, propelling the Flyers to pull out a 26-6 Homecoming victory over the Lions. Check out Patch's game photos on Facebook! "I'm sure it's exciting for the kids (to win their Homecoming game), but we just needed a win," Lindbergh head coach Tom Beauchamp said. "…

Lindbergh Football Suffers One-Point Loss to Oakville

One fumble and two interceptions hurt the Flyers in a 14-13 loss to the Tigers at Oakville High School.

After nearly two hours of storms, administrators and coaches decided Oakville and Lindbergh would play football Friday night. But the rain didn’t stop Tiger fans as they came out in force, cheering their team to a 14-13 win over Lindbergh at Oakville High School. “It’s crazy to wait that long, but it’s what we all decided on doing,” Lindbergh coach Tom Beauchamp said. “Going home and restarting all tomorrow you don’t know what’s going to happen. I think Arlee (Conners) and I and the administrators did a good job of making sure it cleared off and we didn’t hardly have any rain.”  See more photos of the game and fans on our Facebook page.  Oakville scored in the first quarter when Derrick Brown rushed in the end zone with two minutes left. …

Lindbergh Football Eyeing Conference Championship

Returners Garrett Krueger, Logan Offner and Justin Muehlhausler will be key players this season.

The Lindbergh football season officially kicked off Monday as athletes put on their pads for camp and coaches got the first look at the prospective team. “I think our kids are fired up and excited—ready and focused,” coach Tom Beauchamp said. “In high school football, it’s about how much you improve, but also about how much your opponents improve.” The coach believes his team can and will improve enough to make a run at the conference championship. For more Flyer football photos, check out our Facebook page. The Flyers—who went 6-4 last year—lost two powerhouse players in Grant Krueger and Blake Beauchamp, the coach’s son. The two scored nine and seven touchdowns respectively last season, and both signed to play football at Drake …

Lindbergh’s Beauchamp Hits Century Mark With Win Over Marquette

Both teams struggle offensively, but the Flyers turn breaks into points in a 20-0 win over the Mustangs.

SUNSET HILLS–Lindbergh head football coach Tom Beauchamp earned the 100th victory of his 17-year coaching career on Friday night when the Flyers outlasted visiting Marquette, 20-0, in a matchup of surging Suburban West Conference teams at Lindbergh’s Flyers Field. Beauchamp took over as head man of the Lindbergh program in the mid-90s, after serving for many years as the defensive coordinator at Mehlville. In his Lindbergh career, Beauchamp has led the Flyers to six conference championships, more than a dozen playoff appearances, and even a trip to the Show-Me Bowl state championship game in 2002. But few victories in his career left the coach as prideful as win No. 100 did on “Pink Out Night” at Lindbergh, in which the entire Flyers team…

Lindbergh's One-Two Brother Combination Overwhelms Fox

Lindbergh's talented brother tandem of Grant Krueger and Garrett Krueger pace the Flyers past Fox, 34-3.

Fox, desperate for its first victory of the season, hosted the Lindbergh Flyers on Friday night. After getting trounced the previous week in a shutout loss to Ritenour, 39-0, the Warriors had to play in a steady, cool drizzle dampening the grass at Gerald O'Connor Athletic Field. This did little to help slow down Flyers, who won 34-3. Lindbergh came to play, and it came to win. And, win they did as the Flyers scored six straight touchdowns as they handed Fox their third straight loss, 34-3. Early on, Lindbergh senior quarterback Peter Simpson set the pace of the game by skillfully utilizing the strong running game of senior running back Grant Krueger, and his younger brother, talented sophomore receiver, Garrett Krueger. By the end of the …
