PHOTOS: Holiday Inn Route 66-Themed Renovations in Progress
New owners mean plenty of changes for the Sunset Hills hotel--including possible event collaborations with adjoined restaurant Mile 277.
While ownership of the Sunset Hills Holiday Inn officially changed hands last week, renovations to convert the 'Viking' into a Route 66 destination have already begun. The hotel is expected to finish its conversion to Holiday Inn Route 66 by spring 2013, sales manager Jana Wilkey said. New carpeting and wallpaper have already been installed in some hallways, and a renovation on the lobby bar is almost complete. Work is in progress on the grand ballroom, which is waiting for new light fixtures, Wilkey said. A new entrance and upgrades to individual rooms are slated to begin in mid-January, she added.
