The Giants beat the Cardinals 9-0 in Game 7 to end the Redbirds' 2012 season.
There will be no World Series in St. Louis this season. There will be no parade down Market Street, no 12th world championship and no rematch of the 2006 Fall Classic. Monday night in San Francisco the Cardinals hopes of a repeat of 2011 were ended at the hands of the Giants. Just like in 1996, the Cardinals, with a new manager, had a 3-1 lead in the National League Championship series. And, just like in '96, the Cards failed to get win No. 4, losing in Game 7 in a blowout. The Cardinals were done in by a series of miscues and the inability to get a big basehit. But, credit the San Francisco, the Giants had to play perfect to come back and did just that. The loss in California closes the book on an interesting season for the Cardinals…

The third baseman sent the St. Louis Cardinals to Game 7 of the World Series with his clutch performance, but he hasn't secured a spot on the National League's All-Star Game roster yet. Fans can still vote him in.
Why doesn’t the World Series MVP have a spot on the All-Star team yet? David Freese rescued the St. Louis Cardinals when they were one strike away from losing the World Series twice, and started this season with 13 home runs. Aside from baseball, he created his own baseball camp, suffered through an obnoxious interview at Six Flags St. Louis and made this 7-year old’s dream come true. Does that sound like an All-Star to you? Vote here or text N2 to 89269 to cast your ballot for Freese, who is competing against Bryce Harper (Washington Nationals), Michael Bourn (Atlanta Braves) and Aaron Hill (Arizona Diamondbacks). Freese was in the running against favorite Atlanta Braves' Chipper Jones, when Major League Baseball announced Jones would …

An Anonymously commissioned Pujols sculpture captures the Cardinals first baseman's caring side, not as an intimidating ballplayer, sculptor Harry Weber says. The statue will be unveiled in Westport Plaza Wednesday.
Harry Weber said his bronze sculpture of Albert Pujols will be a bit unusual. Weber did not pick the pose as he typically does with his sculptures. “I didn’t pick it, Albert didn’t pick the pose, his foundation didn’t pick it, the Cardinals didn’t pick it,” Weber said. “The donor picked the pose. He wanted to honor Albert not as a great baseball player, but as a great humanitarian." The at 11 a.m. Wednesday outside at in Maryland Heights. An anonymous donor came up with funds for the sculpture. Weber said probably five people in the world know who the person is. He did say the donor does not live in St. Louis. Fine Art Ltd. in Chesterfield commissioned Weber to do the sculpture. A moving sculpture Weber couldn’t give too much away about …

After hitting .363 in 1971, Joe Torre shared a cheap apartment in Crestwood and carpooled to the stadium to save money. He made the decision to postpone World Series Game 6.
Joe Torre, the former Braves and Cardinals slugger and the former Braves, Cardinals, Yankees and Dodgers manager was in town as one the top executives of Major League Baseball. Seeing Torre and reading quotes from him brought back some fond memories. I don’t know Torre. I first started following Joe when he was a catcher with the Milwaukee Braves. His older brother, Frank Torre had been the first baseman for the Braves. When Frank retired he went to work for Rawlings, headquartered here in St. Louis. Frank was interviewed regularly before games and on the early form of sports talk shows. Beause of Frank, I started rooting for Joe, except when the Braves played the Cardinals. Joe became a Cardinal in 1969 and moved to third base. In 1971 …

The Lafayette grad jacked one over the centerfield fence to steal Game 6 from the Texas Rangers. Do the Cardinals have a chance in Game 7?
Minutes after the St. Louis Cardinals clawed back and won Game 6 of the Worlds Series just before midnight, fans on Twitter were raving about the game and the performance of hometown hero David Freese, the Lafayette High grad whose walkoff homer won the game. The Cards won 10-9, knotting the series 3-3 for a deciding Game 7 tonight. "Why is David Freese not trending?!" tweeted "ndrewAllen." "If the #Cardinals win the World Series, they have to build a statue of #DavidFreese," posted JYOUNGNEXTLEVEL, hailing the alum of the Wildwood high school. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch, on the homepage of its STLtoday.com website, headlined its story "Freese it! Hometown hero sends series to Game 7." Nobody could resist the play on words. MLB.com …

The St. Louis area Better Business Bureau gives tips on how to avoid dropping wads of cash on fake tickets and con artists.
St. Louis Cardinal fans’ excitement can help carry their team to an 11th World Series title. However, it also can lead to scams that cost them big money. “Sports fans can get burned by purchasing counterfeit tickets or paying in advance for tickets that never arrive,” said Michelle L. Corey in a statement issued by the Better Business Bureau (BBB). Corey is the president and CEO of the organization, which warns consumers against scams and fraud. The secondary market for sports and entertainment tickets is a $10 billion a year industry. But during last year’s World Series, scams involved counterfeit tickets or tickets that never arrived, said Chris Thetford, vice president for communications for the St. Louis area BBB. “Basically, there’s …
