Among a list of other police reports, an 'animal incident' may not draw much attention. It could be a residents notifying police of a stray, or rogue raccoons at the public pool, but the most common complaints are about barking dogs, according to Crestwood's Animal Control Officer. Nancy Hunt addresses barking and other pet disturbances in a note to residents on the Crestwood city website. "Having a pet is a privilege and great fun, but it comes with some responsibilities, as well. Please remember that not everyone wants to live with the drawbacks of having a pet! Be a good neighbor!" she writes. Crestwood Police field anywhere from 5 to 20 calls per month about animal-related incidents, according to available 2012 monthly data. …

Jessie is a sweet, spayed kitty ready for her new forever home!
Crestwood Animal Control currently is housing Jessie, who was dropped off at Animal Control by her owner, whose new wife didn’t like cats. Clearly she didn’t spend enough time with Jessie, a spayed, sweet girl who loves to rub up against your legs to let you know she’d like some attention! Jessie gets along OK with other cats, but she prefers human companionship. She might be best off as the single cat in a one-cat household. Jessie is looking for someone who enjoys nuzzling as much as she does, and a second chance at a forever home. If you’d interested in meeting Jessie, please contact Crestwood Animal Control at 314-729-4868. Adopters must sign an adoption contract releasing the City of Crestwood from any post-adoption responsibility. …

Adoption is better.
When word spread Wednesday that one of the youngest cats, Beatle, was adopted at last, her biggest fans were surprised--and happy--to see her leave Crestwood's Animal Control shelter in White Cliff Park.
