How to Respond to A Crime--If You're Not an MMA Fighter

After a professionally trained kickboxer and MMA fighter stopped a shoplifter at a Crestwood grocery store, Police Chief Mike Paillou advises residents how they can help when witnessing a crime.

The department hasn't seen many instances of bystanders stepping in during crimes in action, he said. "A good samaritan stepped in and got killed at Starbucks, which is quite possibly what could happen when an untrained individual gets involved," Paillou said. He was referring to the 2008 death of Roger Kreutz, who died from head injuries he sustained while chasing a tip …

Aldermanic Candidate: Developing Crestwood Court is Top Priority

Bill Boston, who has lived in Crestwood for 22 years, is running for alderman.

Bill Boston has thrown his name into the race for alderman of Crestwood’s third ward. Boston, a retired car mechanic and service manager, has lived in the neighborhood for 22 years and raised two children, a 40-year-old daughter and a 46-year-old son. Boston said developing Crestwood Court mall was his top priority. “The mall right now is the main thing going on in the city,” Boston said. “The main thing is working on getting the ball rolling again.” Other than that, Boston said he wanted to run to fill the empty seat vacated by Jerry Miguel and to stay abreast of the normal, monthly business of Crestwood. Boston previously served on the police board. The filing period will stay open until 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 15.  Those elected will …

Crestwood Aldermen Discuss When and Where to Talk With Developers

Tim Trueblood proposed a discussion on private communications between aldermen and potential developers after multiple board members were conacted by Crestwood Court's redevelopers.

Some communications from a Centrum Properties representative sparked a discussion last week among Crestwood aldermen how they should address requests from developers to speak outside city hall walls. The company has been before the board over the last several months in hopes they can introduce a revitalized development at Crestwood Court by the 2014 holiday season. While aldermen approved them as the mall’s developer last month, they have yet to give their recommendation to a specific proposal. Ward II Alderman Tim Trueblood said he received a phone call from a Centrum representative before the board’s previous meeting, but ultimately decided he wasn’t comfortable that the communication was off the record. “I don’t think I should be having…

Crestwood is close to hiring a City Administrator according to the paper. Hope they have done a good job of selecting one this time. They should NOT consider Matthew Unrein, former Arnold City Administrator. Heard there is a huge scandal over the job he did in Arnold. Crestwood does not need anymore problems.   more ›

Crestwood seems to have a huge personnel problem .What with the firing of the city administrator and a Police officer that led to public outrage (both settled quietly with gag orders in place). When long term employees such as the attorney and Jim Eckrich move on to greener pastures you know they is trouble in paradise. Who is next?   more ›
