Patch took a tour inside Crestwood's new indoor go-kart track, Pole Position Raceway.
Mike Johnson, owner of Crestwood's new Pole Position Raceway St. Louis, said there's been a steady crowd of curious customers trying out his electric go-karts since its opening on March 18. It took just a few months to transform the 56,000-square-foot Value City department store into an indoor track. The renovated facility includes tracks for adult and youth riders, arcade games, and rooms for meetings and special events. Karts can travel up to 45 mph, though their acceleration is much faster than the average car. "(If you keep it floored) you will hurt yourself," Johnson previously advised Patch. Enjoy a pizza buffet, go-karting, bumper cars, games, and laser tag at this Route 66-themed entertainment center. Around 8,000 people have visited the renovated Lindbergh Boulevard space before its Dec. 20 grand opening, staff said.
America's Incredible Pizza Co. recently invested $1.5 million to renovate the former Hammer's Food and Fun, 5254 S. Lindberg Blvd. The Crestwood-Sunset Hills, Affton, and South County Chambers of Commerce welcomed the rejuvenated pizza place and family entertainment center to Lindbergh Boulevard this week. It officially opens to the public on Dec. 20. Some customers may remember the space was once called America's Incredible Pizza Co. The previous franchise owner broke away from AIC and opened as Hammer’s Food and Fun earlier this year, St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported. Pole Position Raceway is slated to open in early spring of 2013. Those who purchase gift certificates are eligible for pre-opening activities.
While an indoor go-kart track on Watson Road remains under construction, they have a holiday treat for prospective customers: a limited run of gift certificates. Pole Position Raceway is currently constructing a 56,000-square-foot go-kart facility in the former Value City department store. Their battery-operated go-karts, fit for youth and adult riders, can travel up to 45 miles per hour. The track is expected to open in spring 2013. Roughly 200 $25 gift certficates are currently available for purchase for the holidays, owner Mike Johnson said in an email. They're being sold for $20 each while supplies last, with a limit of five per customer. These customers will also have the opportunity to particiate in pre-opening activities, he said. …
