Also, Oakville volleyball goes 3-for-4 last week.
The Lindbergh baseball team was down to its last out Wednesday against Mehlville. The Panthers had a 1-0 lead as the Flyers had runners on first and third with two outs. "(Mehlville pitcher Austin) Simokaitis was throwing real well," Lindbergh coach Darin Scott said. "We had the hit the ball hard a few times but they made the plays." Lindbergh needed something special from Ryan Woodland. The Flyers executed the double steal with the speedy Woodland coming home from third base. "We needed a spark and we got it from Ryan," Scott said. "He is a track guy who does a lot of pinch running and courtesy running for us. He has some good baseball instincts and got a good jump and scored easily." It was the 12th stolen base of the season for Woodland…

The tie advances the Tigers to the Frozen Four of the Mid-States Hockey Association.
A tie was as good as a win for the Oakville Tigers Monday night in the second game of the best-of-two Challenge Cup series against Lindbergh. And that was exactly what they got. Oakville, which had won the first game of the series 5-3 Thursday, held on for a 1-1 tie in a thriller at theKennedy Recreation Center. The tie advances the Tigers to the Frozen Four of the Mid-States Hockey Association. They will play the winner of the series between Marquette and St. Louis University High in the semifinals. Those games are scheduled for Feb. 23 and Feb. 25 at the Hardee's Ice Plex in Chesterfield. "This was what I expected tonight," Oakville coach Derek Stephens said. "Any time you get to this round, it is desperation hockey. We knew we needed …

The Flyers lost at Oakville 25-16 and 28-26.
The Flyers defense came back against Oakville, but eventually fell short in two games, 25-16 and 28-26. The loss gave the Tigers the conference title. Oakville came out strong in the first game and defeated Lindbergh 25-16. Their defense stopped the Flyers’ tips and slide hits and had a 10-point lead at one point. “The first match, I don’t even know what happened; we missed four serves, we couldn’t pass, we didn’t play our defense,” said Lindbergh coach Johnna Wieter. “Oakville came out ready to play and we did not.” The second game wasn’t as easy for the Tigers. Lindbergh tied it up after Oakville led 6-1 off consistent serves from Jennifer Brendel. The two teams went point-for-point, passing 25. Several kills by Jill Harmon kept …
