Mary Beth Gable, owner of MEG Accounting and Tax Services in Sunset Hills, pleaded guilty to stealing $19,869 from a South County pub owner. The accounting business closed just before the tax deadline.
A Sunset Hills accounting business closed abruptly last week just days before the tax deadline. Its owner was sentenced to five years in prison for stealing $19,869 from a client. Mary Beth Gable, 55, owner of MEG Accounting and Tax Services at 10345 Watson Rd., pleaded guilty to the theft charge in February. Gable, of the 12400 block of Chrisann Lane in Sunset Hills, was sentenced on March 29. Customers were asked to pick up their tax files from Gable's business by April 12. A man is accused of stealing two gold American Eagle coins, valued at $1,796, from his girlfriend’s mother in Sunset Hills. Curtis Adam Hines, 23, of the 7100 block of Ivanhoe Street in Affton, was charged March 20 with felony theft. Sunset Hills Police said the woman reported the two coins stolen from a safe in her residence in the 12400 block of Maret Drive in Sunset Hills between 6:30 a.m. Jan. 18 and 5:30 p.m. Jan. 19. The owner told police she suspected Hines, her daughter’s boyfriend, who had been staying at her home at the time the coins disappeared. Ballwin man became a suspect after officers discovered his sister sold a large amount of scrap metal, according to Sunset Hills Police.
A Ballwin man was indicted by a St. Louis County grand jury Jan. 30 on charges that he stole items valued at $12,720 from a construction site on Grandview Lake Drive in Sunset Hills. Eric Steck, faces four counts of felony stealing in St. Louis County Circuit Court. Sunset Hills Police said Steck broke into trailers on construction sites where homes are being built four times between Sept. 17 and Sept. 27. Police said he stole aluminum window bucks, aluminum fractions and other construction material. Steck was developed as a suspect after his sister, Stephanie Craig, sold a large amount of scrap metal, according to a report. Craig has not been charged. A man charged with stealing jewelry valued at more than $200,000 in Ladue also faces stealing related charges in Glendale and Crestwood. His girlfriend also is charged with stealing. Justin Roux, 22, of the 200 block of Clayton Oaks Drive in Ellisville, was charged Sept. 7 with stealing in Glendale and Sept. 10 with receiving stolen property in Crestwood. Roux’s girlfriend, Tracy Rockwell, 22, of the 9100 block of Grant Farm Trail in Crestwood, also was charged Sept. 10 with stealing. A South County man faces criminal charges after police said he’d been stealing jewelry from his next-door neighbor for six weeks. Heinrich K. Mueller, of the first block of Sappington Acres Drive in the unincorporated Sappington area, was charged Saturday with first-degree burglary and felony stealing. St. Louis County Police said the neighbor saw him going through a jewelry box in his bedroom at about 1:53 p.m. Friday. The neighbor then looked through the jewelry box and realized several pieces of jewelry were missing. Police said Mueller had been taking jewelry since Aug. 1, including a wedding ring set, necklaces, bracelets and several rings. A former nursing home worker was charged Aug. 13 with stealing rings from residents at Friendship Village of South County nursing home in Sunset Hills. Lynnette Michel, 37, of the first block of Dallas Drive in Bella Villa, faces two counts of felony stealing. Sunset Hills Police said Michel worked as a housekeeper at the nursing home at 12635 Friendship Ridge Lane, and stole two rings in June from patients. One ring was valued at $2,000 and the other was valued at $2,500. Police said Michel pawned one ring and sold the other to a gold dealer to get money to buy heroin. Bond was set at $5,000. Tamela Hubbard is charged with a class A stealing misdemeanor stemming from a December arrest in Sunset Hills.
Tamela Hubbard, of the 5900 block of McArthur, was charged with a class A misdemeanor on June 7. Sunset Hills Police arrested her with stealing less than $500 for a crime on Dec. 10, 2011. She was charged in St. Louis County Circuit Court and posted a cash only $7,500 bond. Hubbard's criminal hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. July 23 before Judge Lawrence Permuter.
