Support the Gapsch Family: Lindbergh Students, Oakville Business Hosting Fundraisers

The community is continuing to work together in amazing ways to support the Gapsch family, who lost three family members following a house fire in South County two weeks ago.

79-year-old Georgetta, 38-year-old Terry and 11-year-old Maci Gapsch all died as a result of their injuries. Georgetta's son, MFPD firefighter Mike Gapsch, was among the first responders to the scene. 13-year-old Sperreng student Mia Gapsch is the sole survivor of the fire.

This week, Sappington and Kennerly Elementary students in the Lindbergh School District will host pajama days, with funds raised to benefit the family. Sperreng Middle School is also planning "Mixer for Maci," a family-friendly night of dancing, movies and games on Friday, Sept. 20. Read more about student efforts to assist the Gapsch family.
An Oakville business will be hosting a special over the next week to benefit Mia Gapsch. Oakville Dental Care, 6076 Telegraph Rd., is offering $99 whitenings through Sept. 18. To make an appointment, call 314-487-0333 and ask for Megan.

Members of the Mehlville Fire Protection District, St. Louis County Police, Sperreng MC-PTO and volunteers sold out on both days of their barbecue at Sperreng over the weekend, according to an update from the Sperreng MC-PTO. Volunteers served up a total of 6,000 meals.
